The Perinola Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical publication. We adhere to the principles of transparency, integrity, and academic honesty in all stages of the publication process. Our policies are based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Responsibilities of Authors
- Originality:
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original and have not been published elsewhere, in part or in whole. - Plagiarism:
Submissions are screened for plagiarism. Any manuscript found to contain copied material without proper citation will be rejected or retracted. - Authorship:
Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be listed as authors. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript. - Conflicts of Interest:
Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could influence their research. - Data Accuracy:
Authors must provide accurate data and be prepared to supply raw data upon request. Falsification or manipulation of data is considered unethical.
2. Responsibilities of Editors
- Fair Review:
Editors will evaluate manuscripts based on intellectual content without discrimination of gender, race, religion, or institutional affiliation. - Confidentiality:
Editors must keep all submitted manuscripts confidential and will not share any information with third parties. - Conflict of Interest:
Editors should not handle manuscripts in which they have a personal or professional conflict. - Decision Making:
Publication decisions are made objectively, based on the manuscript’s quality, originality, and relevance.
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Confidentiality:
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. - Objectivity:
Reviews should be conducted impartially and supported by constructive feedback. - Acknowledgment of Sources:
Reviewers must identify any uncited relevant work and inform the editor of potential plagiarism. - Conflict of Interest:
Reviewers should decline to evaluate manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
4. Ethical Oversight of Research
- Research involving human participants or animals must comply with relevant ethical standards.
- Authors should state that ethical approval has been obtained where applicable.
- Informed consent must be secured from human participants.
5. Handling of Misconduct
- The journal follows COPE flowcharts for addressing misconduct.
- Misconduct includes plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission, and unethical authorship.
- If misconduct is confirmed, the manuscript may be retracted and authors blacklisted from future submissions.
6. Plagiarism Policy
- All submitted manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software.
- The acceptable similarity index is below 15% (excluding references).
- High similarity will lead to immediate rejection or a request for revision.
7. Retraction and Correction Policy
- Articles may be retracted if found to be unethical or erroneous.
- Minor errors will be corrected through a corrigendum or erratum notice.
8. Open Access and Copyright Policy
- All published articles are available open access under a Creative Commons License.
- Authors retain copyright while granting Perinola Journal the right to publish and distribute the work.
